California (wow-wee!)
I have decided that
Obstacles...
I aim to make Face Forward Fitness work, not on a corporate level but at a
level that works for all... I want to make training personal.
I have with the help of some great people: patience and words of support
from my family and support and loyalty from past and new clients/friends.
I welcome you all to Face Forward Fitness’
first newsletter.
Every now and then a client from NYC or some friends will call or email me and say” my metabolism is slowing down and I cannot get into this darn gym thing everyday”. I laugh because as we all know the gym is my second home.
Whether
you are in your 20s, 30s, 40s or beyond, it may seem inevitable that,
eventually, your metabolism will slow down and your middle will balloon
out. Some of you may never return to your teenage, slim selves; or slender
bodies after giving birth; others may have been cursed with the ‘fat gene’
(those who have always been a bit chunky since birth). But one thing you
all have going for you (at least) is: you all share in enlisting help by
way of a personal training. That means in short… you’re well on your way
to better health and fitness because you are now focused.
With training and nutrition education, you may one day be out of the dark,
thereby being educated and empowered. You will come to a
point where you can say ‘bye-bye’ to weight gain for good, or at least
have the tools to get back to your healthy weight when a few pounds creep
back. You will also have strength and muscles to keep your bones strong,
your heart disease–free and your body in great shape for years to come.
Knowledge
is power!
Those of you who have
come to me for training understand that fitness is a lifestyle, and you
make the effort to exercise 3 to 6 times a
week.
You will work hard and understand the importance of challenging your body
with cardio, aerobic conditioning, sports conditioning, strength training
and a combination of muscle confusion routines (my favorite aka “Tone&Burn”)--
you will train your body for strength, and enable your body to function
safely in your everyday environment, doing everyday movement.
As
with everything in life we need to learn more in order to focus on what is
important for our longevity, so that we may grow into the person (and
body) we want to become. Looking forward to working out and eating right
will help you prepare for physical changes as you age. Our bodies change
as we age but there is no reason we cannot feel if not look as fit
as we did in our youth.
You
need to accept your strengths and limitations
Prioritize the work necessary to become healthy, fit and a happier
person. Being forced to do what does not come easy will just frustrate you
and add more stress to the body. Being focused during our time together
and being open to learn and change will make you empowered and fit both,
physically and mentally. Proper training is not just physical change but
mental change. Preparing to learn something new and embracing this
knowledge and how it affects you specifically will make you free (body,
mind and spirit). It is the first step to reaching all if not most of our
most basic goals in life.
With Face Forward you do just that, 'face forward' and no looking back-- you make me your fitness/movement/health buddy/co-pilot… and I am in it for the long journey with you!
